Advantages of Heat Pumps

Queenstown, Wanaka & Cromwell have a unique climate which makes it a challenge to keep your house warm in winter and cool in summer. The extreme temperature range can be -15°c on a winter night but rise to the high 30°s in summer.

This means that winter heating bills can be high and many forms of older homes in the area are poorly insulated and/or use methods which are not good for those with allergies. In comparison to other forms of heating such as fires, electric heaters or gas systems, heat pumps have the following advantages:

• Energy Efficiency – Heat Pumps provide more heat energy than they consume, so for every 1kW of power your heat pump uses to run, it should provide around 4kW of heat energy. This is far more efficient than many other forms of heating.
• Whole Room Heating – While a fire or wood burner creates a cosy feel in a room, most of the heat it provides goes up the chimney. Heat Pumps are cleverly designed to push heat evenly through a room and different airflow modes can be activated at the push of a button.
• Clean Air – Heat Pumps are great for families and people with asthma or allergies. Fitted with filtration and deodorisation systems, they will help filter the air while also heating your home.
